What is a Netports VPS?
A Virtual Private Server, more commonly referred to as simply a "VPS" is an isolated server that shares the hardware of a single physical server/host. A VPS performs like a stand-alone server where you can run your own applications, configure services and make a multitude of modifications and changes. A VPS can be rebooted independently, has its own root access, IP's, users, memory, processes, ports.
What are the advantages of a Netports VPS?

What is the difference between a Netports VPS and shared hosting?
VPS has resources that are 100% dedicated to that VPS. It is an isolated environment whereas in a shared hosting environment the server resources are shared among all accounts on the server. In a shared environment you have limitations that are determined by the host whereas with a VPS you are in control - you decide how and what your server is to run.
How long does it take for my VPS to be delivered?
Your Netports VPS will normally be setup and delivered within 24 hours from the time you place the order. We don't "production line" or "auto pop out" our VPS servers like some hosts. Ours are carefully set up and all services are tested and signed off on by a senior technician prior to delivery.
Will Netports manage my VPS for me?
Yes. As from April 2008, all VPS services are fully managed. Managing a dedicated environment can be a challenging thing, especially for those who have little or no server administration experience. Now you can enjoy all the advantages of a VPS yet have the same full support as if you had a reseller account with us.
How do I manage my Netports VPS?
All Netports VPS servers come with three control panels. Virtuozzo Power Panel, WebHost Manager (WHM), and cPanel.
Virtuozzo Power Panel is the VPS server administration control panel. It is the master controlling admin for your entire server. It allows you to start/stop your VPS. Monitor your VPS resource utilisation, restarting a service, view disk space, backup/restore your VPS, and reinstall your VPS.
Web Host Manager (WHM) is the hosting administration control panel. It allows you the manage and create hosting accounts on your Netports VPS. It provides you with full control over your entire web hosting environment. You can create hosting packages, create and assign feature lists, add reseller accounts, add normal hosting accounts, limit accounts disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, email all accounts, change account passwords, check server status and much much more.
cPanel is the control panel auto assigned to each individual hosting account you add to your system via WHM. The cPanel control panel provides the hosting account owner with the ability to control many functions and features of the their hosting account. Exactly what they can control can be pre-set by you through the feature list function in WHM.
What type of payments does Netports accept?
We accept credit cards from Visa, MasterCard and American Express as well as direct deposit.
We utilise the e-Path credit card payment gateway on this website to accept your credit card charge authorisations.
E-Path does not permanently store any details about your credit card transaction on the internet. This is opposite to when a "real time" payment gateway is used. A "real time" payment gateway will store data from a credit card transaction and have it permanently sitting on the internet for merchants to view via online reporting websites. In our opinion an extremely unsafe practice.

Will Netports migrate my hosting account/websites from my previous host?
If you are using the same control panel then yes. Once you receive our welcome email please submit a support request and things will be taken care of for you.
Will the price of my Netports VPS ever increase?
No, all our services come with a price lock guarantee. The price you sign up for will be the price you remain paying even if there is a price increase down the track.
Can I host adult, warez or illicit sites or content?
No, please see our Terms Of Service (TOS) for what is allowed and not allowed.
Some VPS hosts don't give me the space I sign up for because the operating system uses up a big chunk of it. What's the Netports policy on this?
Netports provides an extra 1GB space, free of charge, on all our VPS services to compensate you for the space needed to house the operating system. So, this means the actual true space you will be supplied with your VPS is as follows: VPS-1: 7GB | VPS-2: 11GB | VPS-3: 21GB. Another advantage of a Netports VPS.
